This post is going up, on a Monday! Hey everyone. Hope you all are doing well. The weather is weekend was a pleasant change from the dreary ice and snow we got on Thursday. Last week, my friend Jessica and I hit up Torrid. If you can’t tell by now, Torrid is one of my favorite stores. I posted a pic o a leopard two piece swim suit and got many inquiries about the support of Torrid’s swimwear. ( you can view that leopard two piece in a previous post) I went back and tried on a few of the one piece swim suits for my readers who would prefer to rock a one piece. Not everyone is comfortable rocking a two piece. While trying in these suits, I went braless, to get an accurate idea of how supportive these swim suits are. I am plus petite but my breasts are quite large. It’s difficult to find support for my 44H especially when searching for swimwear.
Here’s what I tried on:
Torrid’s bras/ swimwear/lingerie does not cater specifically to large breasted women whose breats are ddd+. I almost had to size up because my normal 3x was SNUG. Here’s the 3x. Overall it doesn’t look too bad but the support could be better!
While this suit was made with a built in bra support, my breats were sweeping the floor! I couldn’t wear this to a beach with children and feel comfortable.
Long story short, I like the concepts of the one piece suits that Torrid is offering but the execution is poor. When I put in that leopard two pieces, I felt so fierce. My experiences with these pieces made me feel bad.
I’m not getting support from plus size stores. Why not carry items that provide stable support for larger breasts and smaller breasts? Although some stores actually have items for sizes f,g,h, and above, a lot of times the design isn’t as nice as the items offered in the smaller sizes! Why make me order a bra online when I can’t try my size on in store to see if it fits? Why cater to me if you don’t really want to cater to me? This goes for Lane Bryant’s lingerie line as well. My critique isn’t heavily Torrid specific but inclusive of many plus size stores.
Why only use a size 14/16 to model lingerie/swumsuits/ etc to 22+? I’m just annoyed with it all. I’d rather not have to tuck my bra under my swimsuit for support.
Tell me what you think! Which suit do you think provided me with more support? Which suit did you like the best overall? How do you feel about the plus size fashion industry as a whole?
Drop a comment below! I can’t wait to hear from you.
Until next time,
-Nora
