Jumpin Jumpin

Hey hey everyone. Hope you all are doing well! My weekend has been so relaxing. Although I identify as a people person,I also value my alone time. A healthy mix of the two is just what I received this weekend. On a serious note, Sandra Bland’s death and the state of black life in America has been weighing so heavily on me. My sleep has been disturbed. I’m just distraught. How did not using her turn signal result in death? Why is it so hard to get white people to understand that racism is real, that non- white people are being unfairly targeted and most importantly, murdered. People feel sad for dogs but not other humans. I spent Friday alone, reflecting on the situation, trying to get my emotions together. I’m afraid. I’m afraid when to pass police officers. I’m scared. After fear, my next concern is the process for change. How do I, as a member of an oppressed group, attack the power that is oppressing me? My mind is Jumpin, my emotions are Jumpin. It’s certainly a stressful time.
Saturday was a day mixed with alone time and some friendly interaction. I just wanted to get out of the house. I saw Train Wreck. It was such a good film. Extremely funny.

I wore this cute little romper from Catos in a size 22/24. Ya’ll, I received so many compliments on this romper.

When the movie ended, I ventured over to Lane Bryant and purchased a cute top that was on sale. Since its so darn hot, that shirt became a dress.

The print is fun! Doesn’t it just scream Summer? The back has a cute design and I can wear this belted with leggings and a leather jacket in the fall.

Next, I headed to Catos to see what fab items I could find.

I tried in this lovely strapless maxi dress and this flirty jumpsuit.

Unfortunately, the maxi dress was too long for my petite frame. Catos carries clothing in petite sizes but petite sizes go quickly. However, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this jumpsuit in a 22/24 petite! This piece was on sale for a whopping $9.99. My main concern with most strapless pieces is sagging. My breasts are large. I have yet to find a strapless bra that supports the girls properly. Creativity is my strong suit.
When I met up with Cecilia for dinner that night, I moved my bra straps around, making my bra a halter top. The strap around the neck gave me support but didn’t take away from the outfit too much.
Here’s how I styled my jumpsuit

Today, I met Maribel and her friend, Logan for ice cream. We visited Jeni’s in East Nashville, my old stomping grounds. I’ll make another post discussing the gentrification in East Nashville.

I wore my cute shirt dress from Lane Bryant. The shirt was purchase in a larger size so it would hang longer.

Sitting on my throne

Logan wanted to take a nap so he left.

Maribel and I went to Virago in The Gultch. The sushi is pricey but the venue is gorgeous.
In all it was a nice weekend.
I’m still trying to balance work and my personal life. The mixture of alone time help friend time made me feel good. Stil, I’m uneasy about black life and safety.
Let me know how you’re weekend went.

Don’t let Sandra’s death be in vain.
Until next time,
– Nora
