Hello November! I’m excited about oversized sweaters, jeans, fur vests, hats, playful scarves and boots. To close out October, I played it safe due to the rainy, slick weather. On Friday, Me, Maribel, Polina and Emily went to the Day Of The Dead Tequila Festival. This event was held downtown at the East Pavallion. Tons of Tequila brand representatives were at the event serving samples of their different tequilas. Many of the attendees dawned intricate costumes. There were face painters onsite.
We finally got a good shot after a few errors.
Dave Pearse, owner of Franklin Cigar,a Franklin/ Cool Springs based cigar shop, was also at the event with two of his staff members. I smoke hookah once a year or not at all. Smoking is not a habit or hobby of mine. My Grandmother died from COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulminary Disease, and my dad currently has is, so I stay clear of smoking. Still, I’m stuck in the “try something new” ideology. Always, I remain open to new experiences.
I bought an expresso flavored cigar. After thinking tequila all night the flavor was enhanced by the cigar. I see why people like cigars now. That night, I was taught how to properly smoke a cigar. You puff as though you are sipping a straw, hold the smoke and then exhale. This method prevents you from choking on the smoke.
If you are ever in the Franklin/ Cool Springs area, check out this shop!
Afterwards we dined at Rosepepper in East Nashville. We were extremely famished after hours of tequila sampling! That food was heaven sent! We went to club 308. The bouncer was a jackass and the club was too packed. The club itself wasn’t bad. The music was great. Silence Of The Lambs was playing overhead. There just wasn’t enough room so we left to find something more chill. The bouncer really ruined the experience for us because he was rude for no reason. Be aware of them if you ever visit that club. The bouncer is highly obnoxious and heavily aware of his authority.
Finally we called it a night because everyone except Maribel was tired! Despite the rude bouncer, we had a good time Friday night.
Here are more photos from my Friday Night excursion.
My Halloween plans fell through last night. It was time for me to remove my faux locs so I did that after I got home Friday night.
I got my hair braided down.
My mom and I headed to Hair Repubkic and Hair World to look at wigs.
Here’s what I tried.
This wig had a romantic feel. I like to try colors outside of 1b. I’m trying to spice up my hair game! I bought this wig in a 4/30.
Earlier, I checked out a few wigs online. I wanted a reddish wig for fall. Not highlighter or kool aid red, something deeper.
I found this lace front, which I don’t typically wear. It’s an deep lace, invisible L part wig by Freetress Equal. The style is Riley in a color OP99J. This color is everything! My main goal is to find pieces that compliment my professional wardrobe. I run the front desk at a staffing agency. My look has to remain office appropriate. This wig is transitional. My goal is always to find pieces that I can rock at work and outside of work.
This purple wig was everything! It was definitely outside of my comfort zone. I rock color well! I may go back and buy this wig just for weekend wear.
Looking back, I should have tried more colors and styles while I was still in college. Sometimes I feel stifled and constrained by corporate ideals of proper professional appearance.
Would having purple or red hair make me any less qualified? Hopefully one day, I’ll be my own boss, so I’ll make the rules.
This 99J has me feeling myself! I love it!
The part can be worn in the middle and to either side.
My evening was spent in the parking lot of McDonalds. I ate and listened to 92 Q. Sonic had $.50 cent corndogs for Halloween. You all know that I had to go get a corn dog. I’ll be honest, I purchased two.
The Bad
Work makes me tired. I’m no fun anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for employment! I’m just sad. Can’t get around it. 23 has been a funky year for me. My friends and I are at different stages in life an I just feel disconnected from everyone. 23 has been a rough year for me. I’ve learned great lessons but I’ve experienced much heart break as well. I’m a young adult learning how the world works. Life is beautiful but it sure can be depressing.
The Good
While using lyft, I always talk to the drivers. During one ride of Friday, I was able to network with a singer. We exchanged contact information. Hopefully she’ll be a good contact in the music world. I’m just trying to get my foot in the door.
How did you celebrate Halloween? What kind of fun activities did you do this weekend? Show me pictures of your costumes!! Can’t wait to hear from you!
Goodbye October, Hello November!
Until next time,
-Nora
