Holiday Party Season

Hey Everyone! Hope you are doing well! Many of you are watching the Soul Train Awards. Tyrese is really singing! During the next come break, take some time to think about what you will wear to this year’s holiday parties. Holiday party season is upon us. Yes, you’ve heard correctly! My company holiday party is this upcoming Saturday. 1.) Next weekend, that’s extremely soon! 2.) I can’t believe that 2015 is coming to a close so quickly 3.) What the heck am I going to wear?

So many stores are having sales right now! I did boycott Black Friday. I participated in Small Business Saturday. Then I caved in and headed to Torrid to see what goodies I could find.
I kept my outfit simple today.
I’ll apologize for the messy room. With the influx of customers, I don’t think the staff could catch a break to clean the rooms.

Here’s what I tried:

This plaid cover up is lovely! I had to have it! It’s thick too so I can get great use during the winter months. (3x) For a holiday party, I’d wear a white Ruffles blouse with a pleated pant, or a skirt, and booties. I’ll wear this to work and casually .

Talk about snazzy! This blazer is hot! Pair this with a little black dress, or a nice blouse, leather pants/ body con skirt, and a heel- you’ll have the perfect holiday party outfit. (3x)

How cute is this sequined dress? This is fancy yet bulge friendly. In the event that you want to be a bit more covered up, this dress is an attention grabber without accentuating too much. I felt like a child in this dress. Also, I’m tired of hiding my body. I need something that is classy but also attention grabbing. I need a va va voom piece! (22)

Initially, I tried this in a size 22 and it was unforgiving to my belly and breasts. I like the cut of the dress and how it hugs my curves.

I went up to a size 24 and liked the fit much better! Spanx will smooth out the tummy area. I didn’t get the dress today but I might get it another time. In this dress, I felt like a woman. As a former 18/20, I’m still trying to find a medium between acknowledging my weight gain and accentuating my curves. It’s a difficult process but I’m working on it.

This floral skirt with a jeweled satin black or red top and a stiletto would be so chic for a holiday party. I like the flared shape of this skirt. It was full without engulfing my petite plus frame. Maybe I’ll get it another time.

You can see the details on the skirt but it’s so pretty! A red, white, green, silver or gold blouse/top would look nice with the black skirt. It was on clearance so I got it.  I’m going to wear it to work. The fit or the skirt is nice. You can still see my curves but not in a provocative way. I have issues with busy skirts because of my height and weight. Sometimes skirts swallow me.  (22)

Lastly, I tried on this asymmetrical dress.

This isn’t for a holiday party. I liked it. I will wear it to work and casually.

There were other pieces that could work for a holiday party that I wanted to try but I got tired and put on my clothes.
I took pictures of sweaters that I liked.

Precious! I want all three of them. If you wanted to do something unconventional for your holiday party, you could pair either of the last two sweaters with a black pleated skirt, or a midi skirt and wear wedge booties or heels. This would be cute for a friend’s holiday party.

Torrid ranks high on my list of favorite stores. I always go there to see what I can find. What I wore last year actually came for Torrid. It’s the jumpsuit that I wore to homecoming this year.

I can’t wait to see what I’ll wear this year !

Which of the pieces did you like best?
What are you wearing to the holiday parties to which you’ve been invited?
What did you wear last year?
Drop me a comment below! Can’t wait to hear from you!
I’ll go to a few more store to see what o can find!
Until next time,
-Nora
