Close But No Cigar

Hey everyone! Hope you are doing well! I have been so busy in the midst of activity that I have not update my blog lately. Thank you all for bearing with me!

Two Sundays ago, I met up with my friend Jasmine. She knows how to braid and agreed to cornrow my fro for me! Afterwards, we spent the day together enjoying the beautiful weather.
First we stopped at Bob Evans for brunch. Then we moved to Opry Mills to walk off what we just consumed.
I tried on these pieces at Old Navy:

The 40% off sale drew me to the jumpsuits. Unfortunately this one was too small. Why won’t Old Navy carry their plus sizes in store? It boggles my mind every time that I try on clothing here. I had high hopes for this piece. My breasts will not let me be great.

This simple black dress is absolutely horrendous ( in the words of Avante Edmonds) on me. While I am pro-pattern and pro-print, I am also a fan of simplicity. Minimal pieces are the most fun and can be mixed and matched the easiest. I really wish that Old Navy would carry their 3x+ line in store. I am having the most difficult time trying to find pieces that show off my curves without pointing out my problem areas.

Next we ventured to Dress Barn:

This Calvin Klein dress was on sale for $25 bucks!!! I loved the print and style but the sizing was limited. There were no 22s or 24s in stock, only 18w and under. I was so close to tears.

The 20 was too small while the 24 was extremely baggy on my frame. This dress was $25 as well. The interesting print caught my attention but I had to leave this piece behind, sadly. I sincerely wish that his piece had worked with me. I am not a fan of sausage arms. I like my sleeves to comfortably cover my arms.

This window shopping trip was almost amazing. In the find words of Brandy Norwood, Almost Doesn’t Count. I am thoroughly disappointed about not being able to purchase any of the pieces that I tried in my size. Although the trip was a fashion fail, I did spend some quality time with an old friend. She doesn’t get out much, so I’m glad that she was able to get some fresh air.

People always applaud me for blogging about my experiences in the dressing room.  I am learning to not feel terribly about about my body after bad dressing room experiences. Absolutely NOTHING fit me, at all. Initially, I felt like a beached whale. On this journey, some days are ehh, and some days are awesome. Aaliyah’s song says, dust yourself off and try again. That I shall do!

Which pieces did you like the best?
