Summer is approaching. It was so hot today that parts of my body that I was unaware of dripped sweat. Hope you all are staying cool. I headed to Target to see what I could find to update my wardrobe for summer. A good find, would be a piece that I can mix and match with different items. A quality find, can transition from work, to an after five event, to the weekend. My goal when shopping is to find pieces that are durable and that will withstand trends.
My feelings about Target’s plus size line has been less than supportive over the past years. Still, I go back with hopes of progress in the plus size style department. Recently, I went back and was pleasantly surprised.
Here’s what I wore:
I bought this shirt at either Goodwill or Clothes Mentor but it’s originally from Dressbarn. These jeans are from Avenue Plus.
Here is what I tried from Ava and Viv:
I liked the print in this top but I wasn’t wowed enough to purchase.
This shirt is light enough for me to wear comfortably to work in the heat. I can roll the sleeves. I could style it with a skirt or shorts or leather pants. I can tie it as well. It was $25 bucks so I left it at the store. I may go back and get it.
Shirt dresses ,like this one, are perfect for transitioning to different events. A waist belt and heels could instantly dress up this piece for work, a night out or for weekend brunch with friends. On the other hand, a denim jacket and Converse or Keds could tone down this dress. I would tie a cute knot at the bottom to alter the length. It was $30 bucks. I’m waiting for it to go on sale.
I absolutely wanted this shirt but not for $21 dollars. I’m waiting for it to go on sale! I can belt it over a pencil skirt and wear it to work.
You all j ow that I bought this! It’s green! The buttons don’t stress over my breasts! I can was it with heels, sneakers or sandals. I’m excited to see how to style this.
These tees were on sale for $5 bucks
I bought a solid black one and this striped one. These shirts can be dawned with a blazer or colored shorts and heels. There is so much that I can do with this shirt!
Target has great accessories!
I’m a bag lady and a hat lady.
This bag would be cute for the A jazz festival or Bonaroo.
How cute is this 90s style bag? I love vibrant colors. That’s what summer is all about, being bold.
This bag screams professional.
The lesson here is that greatness does ‘t occur over night. Progress takes time. Growth takes time. Target, like many people, deserved another chance. Nothing is perfect right from the jump. When you question your journey, remember that your greatness takes time. Becoming you takes an entire lifetime. I’m reminding myself this everyday. Development takes time. You may not be in the job that you truly desire, or drive your dream car, or be with your soulmate yet but you will. Often, I am plagued with the fear that I am not utilizing the gifts and purpose that God gave me. With that and faith, I have to trust that he will places me where he wants me to be in his time.
Be safe this weekend.
Until next time,
-Nora
