There’s Always Time For Dessert

*cues Drake* “Why you wanna fight with me at Cheesecake, you know I love to go there, I can’t take you nowhere! Mama is a saint, yes she raised me real good, all because of her, I don’t do you like I should. Don’t make me give you back to the hood!”

There’s always an appropriate way to use Drake lyrics in real life! Good Evening everyone! Happy Black History Month. I hope that you all are doing well. After watching Hidden Figures, I realized that I need to research more of my history. First and foremost, I am thankful to my ancestors, and all of the people who have proceeded me in the fight for justice. I miss Berea College so much because we acknowledge black history. February wasn’t simply another month in the year. I miss the Carter G Woodson Center.  I miss the open discussion that we had about our past, present and future. My goal is to learn more about the people who afforded me the freedoms that I have now. I’ll discuss black history month and our current social/ political climate in another post.

Everyone that knows me knows that I am a homebody. I spend my weekends curled up in my bed, watching TV, stuffing my face, drinking wine and sleeping. Being a hermit has put a damper on my blogging. I promise to do better! I’ll take more pictures of what I where when I go out. I’m too young and cute to be locked up in my room! Friday night, I decided to break the norm and go out with Cecilia and her boyfriend Mitchell. She just moved in with him and is excited about her new room. We caught up with each other over dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Like Drake, who doesn’t love to dine at this restaurant? The food is nice and the dessert is even BETTER!

Because I have been locked up in my room playing sims, I’ve always had time to do some online shopping. Torrid had a big sale online several weeks ago and I indulged my shopping itch.

Here’s what I wore :

Faux Leather Fringed Jacke(26/28)t,Blouse,(size 4) Jeans-(size 24) Torrid, Flats- Payless, Fringe Bag- TJ Maxx

I’m a different woman every day of the weekend. I’m a transformer! I change wigs from morning to night if I feel like it! This is a dark root, copper wig by Zury. I have received so many compliments on the color. I step outside of my comfort zone for fun. Life is short. Live! I can be a plain Jackie during the week.

My friends are so supportive of my dream. Cecilia took photos of me without complaining. She and Maribel gave me a gift card that helped me buy my new Macbook Pro. Erika always comments on wigs that I show her or gasses me up when I’m feeling insecure. It’s nice to have a good support group. I love my friends! They’ll read my blog and like my photos when no one else will. Avanate and Katie always share my blog links when I post them. They always support me. I appreciate them dearly.
I got the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake. God is good. If you don’t believe in God, try that Cheesecake. It’s certainly heaven sent. Afterwards, we went downtown for some fun. It’s nice to spend time with people that care about you. Good Vibes Only in 2017 (despite Trump being president).

I am enjoying the woman that I am becoming. I’ve fought so hard to be her.
I’ve enjoyed learning myself. If there’s anyone that you should know well, that person is yourself.
Know what you believe, know that you can change. Know to trust your gut. Know to smell the roses, or even try new cheesecakes. Learn that crying is ok. Know that you will be alright!
Going back to the hood is a mental thing. Remember where you started. Recall what motivates you. Remember why you grind hard. I’ve spent so much time being depressed about where I am in life. Going back to the hood, back to where I started, makes me appreciate how far I have come, and how much I have grown. You can’t beat yourself! Don’t compare your progress and your life to some one else. Don’t let social media deceive you. You never know how people are struggling behind closed doors. Don’t forget to be thankful for what you already have. Don’t forget to thank God for your accomplishments so far!
Take time for yourself, make time for your goals, make time to go places that you want. Don’t spend your entire life living for everyone but yourself. Take time smell the roses. Make time for dessert.
Anywho, Tell me how you are doing? Do you have any plans for valentines day? How do you like this outfit? What did you think of the Super Bowl?

Until next time,
