Happy Friday everyone,
I know that there is a lot of chaos, fear, and uncertainty going on in the world. In the midst of it all, I have been blessed with opportunities to engage the community and develop my brand. Last week, I taught a group of plus-size beauties how to budget slay: the act of slaying and serve while on a budget.
This week, I had the opportunity to join DJ Jelly on her radio show on WXNA 101.5 FM called The Couch. Every Thursday from 8pm – 9pmCST, Jelly invites her audience to the Couch to discuss their romance and relationship issues. Each week, Jelly responds to a juicy letter from a listener who needs love advice. She couples the commentary with trendy songs about love, heartbreak, and life.
This was my first time being on the radio as a guest speaker! As a child, I spent most of my days listening to the radio, from religious programs, NPR, to the Friday and Saturday night DJ house spins. I used to call into certain stations and win free items. At one point, I considered a career in journalism and broadcasting, either in front of the camera or on the air. Ultimately, my love for helping people led me to choose sociology over the broadcasting and journalism minor.
God’s grace and mercy never ceases to amaze me. I prayed and spoke life into my brand’s growth this year, and God has already cleared a pathway.
Be sure to catch Jelly on The Couch on Thursdays at 8pm. Listen to me on the radio via the website archives. Sound off below on the show’s question!
